Stupid Cupid
So, what did you do this Valentine's Day?
Tjer and I went to Zimbabwe. Well, virtually anyway.
We thought virtual happy thoughts *like how Peter Pan and the kids did when they wanted to go to Never-Ever Land* and was magically transported to Zimbabwe!
Confused yet?
It started with me mulling over what we should do on the 14th.
I then asked the boyfriend,
"Baby, pick a place to go for Valentine's Day! Anywhere at all!"
Of all the places he could have picked *for example Mars, Pluto, the Moon or even Narnia*, the boyfriend's reply was- 'Zimbabwe'.
I wiki-traveled Zimbabwe and was greeted by this huge warning sign:

Scrolling down, this too, caught my eye:
'HIV/AIDS infection rate in Zimbabwe is the 4th highest in the world at around 20% or 1 in 5 infected. Obviously you should never have unprotected sex. If you form a serious relationship, consider both getting an HIV test before taking things further.'
I was absolutely flabbergasted!
Instant-messaging him, I asked, "Baby! They have widespread cholera and Aids there! Why would you pick such an unromantic and dangerous place for Valentine's Day?!"
The boyfriend was cool, he was calm, and he was also collected.
He debonairly acknowledged, "Well, it's only exciting if it's dangerous, isn't it?"
In the end, because the rest of Zimbabwe was too dangerous for my liking, we ended up only visiting the Victoria Falls *refer above*.
We sat by the water, watched some Choleric dancers doing the Hula by the lake and salivated over the menus of some Zimbabwean restaurants I found online and consequently sent him.
At the end of the night, Tjer gave me a virtual kiss and said,
"Next time we go to Zimbabwe for real, okay?"
Hmm... We'll see about that baby. I don't want to come back with HIV! *aghast emoticon*
All in all, it was a great Valentine's Day, even if it was all virtual... simply because I spent it with Tjer.
:)
Hopefully yours was just as good?
xx
